mammut showroom:

invisible door elements with swinging door fitting astec b.520

the famous outdoor recreation equipment brand mammut completely redesigned its showroom in seon in the canton of aargau. in addition to the traditional product presentation floor, a multi-function area for holding meetings and trainings was created. as part of the overall design solution, this area is separated by a wooden wall, creating a cozy impression and hiding a storage room, similar to a secret passage.

the storage room can be accessed via 12 door elements, weighing in at 110 kg each, with swinging door fitting astec b.520. these fittings are invisibly integrated into the wooden wall, and the result is astounding – no one would ever suspect a storage room behind this wall with its vertical wooden slats. to ensure equal loading of the fitting, it was installed transverse to the door axis with its pivot point in the rearmost vertical slat. this object illustrates beautifully that design does not always need to be front and center but that it can champion the overall solution while remaining in the background.
